1996 Chevy S10 - good deal?

I’m looking at a 1996 Chevy S10. It’s 4x4 with a 4-speed auto and a 4.3 motor. It has 186k miles, the frame looks clean, and while the body has some dents, I don’t see any rot in the pictures. The guy wants $3k for it. Seems like a good deal to me! I know these motors can be really reliable; my dad had a half-ton with the same motor as a farm truck, and it never let us down. I’m a Chevy/GM fan over any other brand, so I know a bit about these trucks, but I’d still love some input from you all. Thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:

That sounds like a solid deal! Those S10s are pretty tough, especially with that motor.

Yeah, if the frame is good and there’s no rot, I’d go for it. Just make sure to check the condition of the transmission too.

Good call! I’ll definitely check that out. Thanks for the tip!

I had one of those back in the day, and it was a beast! Just keep an eye on the maintenance records.

For $3k, I’d say it’s worth it, especially if you’re a fan. Just make sure to give it a good once-over before buying.

Sounds like you know what you’re getting into, but remember, these older trucks can have hidden issues. Good luck!
