Hello, I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 that I need to drive from Vancouver, WA, to Glendale, AZ (exactly 1000 miles). It currently has 133,000 miles on it, no check engine light, and I plan to make this trip in March. Are there any precautions or pointers you guys have? Would it be cheaper to get it towed instead? Thank you!
Make sure to do a thorough inspection before the trip. Check the oil, coolant, brakes, and tires. It might also be a good idea to have a mechanic look it over if you haven’t already.
Consider getting a full tune-up before your trip, especially if you haven’t done one in a while. Make sure your spare tire and tools are in good condition just in case!
Pack an emergency kit with water, snacks, and basic tools. Also, plan your route and check for any road conditions ahead of time. If the Tahoe is in good shape, driving should be fine!
Towing might be more expensive than driving, especially with fuel costs, unless your Tahoe has serious issues. If you feel confident in its reliability, driving is usually the better option.
