I recently inherited my grandfather’s 2006 Chevrolet Impala, and it’s in pretty good condition. I want to make sure I keep it running smoothly and avoid any major issues down the line. Does anyone have experience with this model? Are there any common problems I should be aware of or specific maintenance tips you can share? Also, I’m considering some upgrades to improve performance and maybe even the audio system. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Repairing an automobile is nearly always less expensive than purchasing a new one. Do you believe there won’t be any issues with your new car?

I think you have a couple of choices.
You may save up for something newer and fix it up so you can continue driving it.
You won’t receive KBB for it even if you pay for the repairs and trade it in. Possibly a few hundred bucks.
Put the proceeds from its private sale towards a new car.
$350 for the water pump/belt and brakes looks reasonable for a shop job. Unless you’re seeing a coolant leak where you park, I could consider getting a second opinion on the water pump. If not, there might be a separate issue.
It sounds like it will nickel and dime you to death; get a new one if you can afford it. These days, you can get a tonne of information about DIY auto repair on websites like YouTube and forums like this one. Acquire some tools and learn how to fix and maintain your automobile correctly; you’ll end up saving a tonne of money.

To avoid major issues, regularly check the transmission fluid level and condition, and consider having the transmission serviced according to the maintenance schedule.
My friend drove one for a while. He always experienced issues with the engine such as excessive oil consumption and coolant leaks.
