2014 Chevy Sonic 1.8L

When I take breaks, the oil light turns on. Does anyone know what this might indicate?

It indicates that you might be confusing “breaks” with “brakes.”

That indicates low pressure, not low fluid. Even with a full engine, you can still have no pressure if the pump isn’t functioning properly to circulate oil at the right pressure. I assume there’s an issue with the pump or the oil pickup.

I’d also like to find out, as I’ve never encountered anything like that before.

First and foremost, you should check your oil level with the dipstick. Oil lights usually indicate low oil levels.

Check your oil level with the dipstick. If it’s really low, the oil may shift around while braking, causing the engine to not get the oil it needs. Address this as soon as possible, as you risk damaging bearings, pistons, or other components that require oil, which could lead to serious engine damage.
