Hey all, so my 2016 Malibu sat for a month and was running fine after. But now it’s been sitting another three weeks, and it’s completely unresponsive to the key fob. I even changed the batteries in the fob, but still nothing. I’m not sure what’s going on, and I don’t know how to get into the car without the fob working. Anyone have ideas on what to try or what could be causing this?
Sounds like the battery might be dead. If it’s a push button ignition, there should be a mechanical key inside the fob. You can pop that out and use it to get in through the driver’s door.

Ah, I didn’t know there was a mechanical key in the fob! I’ll check that out. Thanks for the tip. Is there anything else I need to do after getting inside?
@Amar
Yeah, once you’re inside, you’ll probably need to pop the hood and jump-start the battery. Since it’s been sitting, the main 12v battery is probably drained.
@Amar
Exactly, just what DEF said. Late model cars like these tend to drain if they sit too long. Jump-starting should do the trick if it’s just a battery issue.

Wait, what do you mean by ‘push button ignition’? Is that something different from a regular key?
