2017 suburban reliability... is it worth it?

So I’m looking into purchasing a 2017 Premier Suburban with 90k miles on it, but I’ve heard some pretty horrible things about transmission issues. Is this a bad idea? Can anyone give me some insight? I’d really appreciate any thoughts on this.

Yeah, I’ve heard those Suburbans can have some serious transmission problems. Might wanna do some research before buying.

What kind of problems are we talking about? Like, is it super common?

@Merritt
Yeah, from what I’ve seen, it’s not rare. Some folks say they had to replace the whole thing. Just check for any service records.

I had a 2016 model and it was fine for me. Just make sure to get a mechanic to check it out first!

Good tip! What do you think a mechanic should look for specifically?

They should check the transmission fluid levels and listen for any weird noises. Just a heads up!

Honestly, I’d be cautious. If you’re not into dealing with repairs, maybe look for something else?

Right? I’d rather avoid the hassle if I can. There are plenty of options out there.

I’ve heard good and bad things about them. It really depends on how well it was maintained before you get it.

True, but how do you even find that out? Like, do you just ask the seller?

@Bowtie
Yeah, definitely ask for any service records or maintenance history. It can save you a lot of trouble later.

Just remember, every car has its quirks. Test drive it and see how it feels to you. That’s the best way to know!
