HEY there! I’m looking to make an upgrade to my Chevy. I’ve heard they can be kinda explosive in the rear end department, so I’m considering upgrading the OE differential. I don’t want any of the ratios changed or anything to do with the LSD, but I want something a little stronger. Any suggestions?
Who said they were explosive? I wouldn’t mess with it since you should have a G80 locker back there. TB rear ends are pretty robust like most trucks. I’ve done a ton of research on this truck and haven’t seen anything that stands out in the rear.

I was told by a friend who works at the shop that these rear ends tend to kaboom. If that’s the case, I might just leave it as is.

I get that concern, but honestly, it sounds like a rumor. If you’re not pushing it too hard, you should be fine. Just keep up with maintenance.
If you’re really worried, maybe consider a performance diff cover? It helps with heat dissipation and can add some strength.

That sounds like a good idea! I’ll look into it. Thanks for the tip!
I just want to make sure I’m not opening a can of worms with this upgrade. I appreciate all the feedback!
Honestly, if the diff is working fine now, maybe just leave it and upgrade other parts of the truck instead. Less hassle!
