2020 Chevy Equinox

Long story short, my F150 apparently has a bunch of issues and with its miles and age, it isn’t worth fixing. Dealership near me has a 2020 Equinox for $20k, which seems like a good deal. Anyone have one they like? I don’t know much about the 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder engines but have read good and bad things about it. Appreciate any help or advice!

My 2022 LT with 28k miles runs great. With my turbo, I give the vehicle a minute or two to warm up and let the oil circulate a bit… I know, I know, ‘you don’t need to do that; it’s newer.’

Any other issues? I’ve heard mixed things about the Equinox in general.

1.5L is a good engine. Great fuel mileage, and for such a small vehicle, it has lots of room.

The acceleration of the 1.5 won’t knock your socks off. It’s pretty anemic. Otherwise, my 2023 hasn’t had any problems.

I have a 2020 base 1.5T engine AWD with 130k+ miles. I’ve done all manufacturer-recommended maintenance and haven’t had a single issue with reliability, other than the random infotainment glitches. I’ve been the sole driver since new and am somewhat of an aggressive driver. It still runs great and has never let me down.

This was my first Chevy vehicle, and I’m more of a Ford guy. The Equinox wouldn’t ever be on my radar when shopping for vehicles. Received this as a company vehicle and would now consider one at the right price for personal use.

The 1.5 loves to throw P1101 code whenever the throttle body gets a bit dirty, but you usually just need to clean it and reset idle compensation. They can also have PCV issues that cause oil consumption/leaks. Also, not as common, but they do crack pistons sometimes.
