2023 Chevy Trailblazer - Won’t Engage Drive Occasionally... any ideas?

I’m having a strange issue with my 2023 Chevy Trailblazer, and I’m unsure how to present the problem to my mechanic. Occasionally, when I switch to Drive from Park, the vehicle doesn’t want to accelerate. When I let off the brake, it shakes back and forth like someone is pushing the gas and brake repeatedly. Then, if I hold down the brake for 10 seconds and release, it drives like normal. I’m concerned my mechanic might not notice this problem since it doesn’t happen every time. It also seems to occur more often if I’m in a hurry, turning the vehicle on and immediately switching to drive and letting off the brake. Any idea what this could be?

That sounds like a possible issue with the transmission or the electronic throttle control. It might be worth mentioning both to your mechanic so they can check those systems.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely bring that up with them.

It could also be related to a sensor issue, like the brake pedal position sensor. If it’s not registering correctly, that might cause the vehicle to behave oddly.

That makes sense. I’ll ask them to check the sensors as well.

Make sure to note the conditions when it happens. If it’s more frequent when you’re in a hurry, that might help the mechanic pinpoint the issue.

I’ll keep track of that. It might help them understand the problem better.

It might also be a good idea to check for any software updates for your vehicle. Sometimes, newer models have bugs that can be fixed with a simple update.

I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll ask the dealer if there are any updates available.

Definitely communicate this to your mechanic. If they can replicate the issue, it will be easier to diagnose. Try to describe exactly what happens during those moments.

I will, thanks for the tips. I hope they can figure it out quickly.
