Hello, everyone.
I would like to question any 2023 owners if they’ve noticed a lot of air coming out of the oil fill while the engine is idle. I am experiencing oil consumption in my truck and I am wondering if this is normal or if a damaged piston ring is the reason for it. I’ve scheduled a compression test for the dealer. If you have a 2023, start your engine and allow it to warm up. Then, place your hand over the oil fill, and if you feel the air “pumps” flowing out, it signifies there is a leak in your pistons, which is causing air to flow through your intake. Does anyone else have that?

It’s normal for there to be pulses…
The rule of thumb is, if you place the oil cap on top and it doesn’t get blown off, things are good.

I believe there should be a tiny vacuum. On a non-turbo engine, the PCV valve is connected to the intake manifold vacuum. On a turbo, things become more complicated because the manifold might also have positive pressure.
When I remove the cap from my GTI while it is idling, I sense a little vacuum trying to suck the cap back on. And the engine will run substantially rougher. This is the check for a bad PCV. If the PCV valve malfunctions, it can provide boost pressure to the crankcase, resulting in oil leaks and other difficulties.
