2025 equinox gas... 87 -89 - 93?

I just bought a new 2025 Chevy Equinox LT. What type of gas should I put in it? What even goes behind the decision of choosing 87, 89, or 93? I don’t even know what those numbers mean; I assume they are percentages of some measure of the quality of the fuel? I’ve always just got regular BC. it’s cheap, but I have a new vehicle and want to do what’s right… help me out lol

87 also in owners manual

Follow the servicing schedule in the owner’s manual. Most people fall into the “severe use” category if they live somewhere that experiences extreme heat and cold and make frequent short city visits. Replace the oil every 5000 miles. Other fluids (coolant, transmission, etc.) also need to be replaced, but at longer intervals.

I used 87 in my 2020 and 2024 Equinox without any problems. They both have a 1.5 turbo engine.

The owner’s manual explains the correct gas type and any advantages of utilizing a higher octane. Tow vehicles frequently advocate high octane while towing and regular octane while not towing.

I agree with the other individual. Check the handbook, and if it says you can use 87, I wouldn’t waste money on something more expensive.

Some automobiles demand premium / 91 or higher octane, however my hunch is that it does not.

It’s a standard economy vehicle, so 87 is ideal. Higher octane gas is typically used in luxury or sports cars with powerful engines. For example, almost all Mercedes vehicles with gas engines require 91 octane or above.
