Is there any reason why the Z71 wouldn’t get supercruise in 2025 suburban?
Z71 is an off-road trim. Simply accept that a Premier or RST will suffice for all of your off-roading needs and get a vehicle with SuperCruise.
The Z71 is the lowest trim level that includes the two-speed Autotrac transfer case. It comes standard on the more expensive Premier and High Country trims, but it can be added to any of the other trims for $300 by selecting the max trailering option. That’s a box of check on a $60k+ truck just for being in the noise.
Will this thing truly go off-road, or will it remain a pavement princess? If the latter is true (which is statistically most likely), then all of the Z71’s additions are purely cosmetic.
I enjoy the look of the Z71, but I completely see what you’re saying! Thank you so much for your insight! Hopefully, adding the trailer package will include the fantastic trip
Unfortunately, that is not how it works. The Max Trailering Package adds the Z71 trim’s normal two-speed transfer case to the LS, LT, and RST trims, which otherwise have a single-speed transfer case.
Adding the package will give you the “4-Low” setting on the selector knob in an LS, LT, or RST trim unit. It will not allow you to SuperCruise on a Z71 unit.
They’re limiting SuperCruise to the three most expensive trims, RST, Premier, and High Country, most likely for marketing purposes. The Z71 is actually relatively inexpensive. It is essentially an LT with off-road shocks, skid plates, knobby tires, and a two-speed transfer case slapped on.
Maybe the different bumper and fascia interfere with the necessary sensors.
Good call. Bummed out I just learned that and I’m not sure I am going with the 2025 model now!
