2025 Trailblazer Engine Light – Did I Buy a Lemon? What Can I Do?

Hey guys, I’m seriously stressed out and hoping for some advice. I live in New York and just bought a brand new 2025 Trailblazer RS last week. Everything was fine until yesterday when I was driving on the highway, and out of nowhere, the check engine light came on, and the car suddenly wouldn’t accelerate. I could barely get it to go 20 miles per hour and had to pull over every 50 feet just to make it home.

This morning, I called the dealer and brought it to the service department, which thankfully wasn’t too far away. Same issue—could only manage about 20 miles an hour on side streets to get there. The service manager called me in the afternoon and said it’s a transmission issue. They told me to come in tomorrow to get a loaner while they figure things out.

I honestly can’t believe this is happening. I’ve only had the car for eight days! I called corporate right away, and they opened a case, but I’m not sure how much that’s going to help. I’m freaking out that this is going to keep happening, and I just got this car.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Did anything good come out of it? I know New York’s lemon law says the car has to go into service four times before I can take any action, but I really just want them to replace this car with a new one. I’m super worried this is going to be an ongoing issue. :yum:

If your 2025 Trailblazer’s engine light is on, it doesn’t necessarily mean you bought a lemon. First, consult your vehicle’s manual for possible issues. Then, visit a certified mechanic or dealership for a diagnostic check. If under warranty, contact the dealer for repairs or replacements.

Unfortunately, before any real action occurs, you’ll probably have to play the game and have them try to cure it several times. In the best-case scenario, the problem with your automobile is readily identified, fixed, and you just experience minor inconvenience. I’ve heard that the trailblazers are often not very reliable.
