I just purchased a brand new 2025 Equinox LT. I don’t know much about car ownership; what is the greatest advice you can provide me to help the vehicle endure as long as possible while still maximizing its use and functionality?
Also, am I expected to bring it to the dealership service department for routine maintenance, or is that a ripoff? I’ve been told to wait till something is wrong before bringing it back… idk???

Follow the servicing schedule in the owner’s manual. Most people fall into the “severe use” category if they live somewhere that experiences extreme heat and cold and make frequent short city visits. Replace the oil every 5000 miles. Other fluids (coolant, transmission, etc.) also need to be replaced, but at longer intervals.
The dealer who sold me the vehicle said it was bad for the vehicle when the service department opens things up unless they have to bc something’s not working… what do you think of his advice? Was he trying to get my vehicle to fail sooner so I’d buy another one sooner haha?

But do not go off the egg timer in the dash for oil changes always change it 40-50% of oil life …
