Anyone had to replace a fuel pump control module on a 2019 Silverado? Need advice…

I’m looking for some advice on replacing the fuel pump control module on my 2019 Silverado. The part number is 13565641, and new ones are backordered with no idea when they’ll arrive. A local mechanic has a used module with the same part number, and he’s going to give it a shot.

Anyone know the chances this will actually get me back on the road? The dealership said I could tow it to them for reprogramming, but they couldn’t guarantee it would work. Anyone been through this?

You shouldn’t need it reprogrammed.

That’s good to hear! I was worried the module would be tied to the original vehicle’s VIN.

I’ve got a working one at my job that I sometimes use to move cars around the parking lot without any issues.

@Chen
Haha, how much would you sell it for? :smile:

Honestly, using a used module could go either way, 50/50 chance. These modules are known to fail a lot. I’ve replaced tons of them. But, once you replace it with a new one, you probably won’t have to worry about it again.

It’s crazy that these parts are so unreliable, yet GM doesn’t have any available. It’s like they expect you to just buy a new truck while waiting for months for a replacement part. So frustrating!

Yeah, it’s been a nightmare with part shortages since 2020. It’s slowly getting better. If your module was new, the dealer would have to ‘configure’ it, not really reprogram. Since yours is used, it should be a simple plug-and-play.

Sounds like your Silverado is giving you a hard time with the fuel pump module! Just a reminder, make sure you disconnect the battery before starting any repairs. Safety first! Good luck with it!
