I’m thinking about buying a used 2016 Malibu with 86k miles for $11k. Is this a good idea? I’ve heard mixed things, with some people saying Malibus aren’t reliable and that issues tend to pop up once the mileage hits 100k or more. I’d love to hear the thoughts and experiences of anyone who owns or has owned this car. Thanks!
I had a 2016 Malibu for a couple of years. It was decent, but I did run into some electrical issues around 100k.

That’s what I’m worried about. Did you feel like it was worth it until then?
Honestly, I think it depends on how well the car was maintained before you buy it. A good maintenance history can make a big difference.

That makes sense. I’ll definitely check the maintenance records if I go for it!
My friend had one and it was pretty reliable for the most part, but once it hit 100k, things started to go wrong.

Ugh, that’s exactly the kind of feedback I’m hearing. Maybe I should look at other options.
If you’re worried about reliability, maybe consider a different model. There are plenty of alternatives that might suit you better.
