Thinking about getting a Silverado 2500HD in the future with a 6.0 V8. I plan to use it for daily driving, which is why I wanted the gas engine. My first choice was 2002, but I’m curious if another year would be better. I’ve heard that 2002 was one of the best years, and I’m aware that the fuel mileage on this truck isn’t great, but that doesn’t bother me.
You might want to consider the 1500HD as well. Personally, I really prefer the '02 ‘roundeye’ much more. Love mine and haven’t had any major problems. Those 6.0s are arguably the longest-lasting gas engines on the road, in my opinion.
@Nyx
That’s great to hear! Sounds like you’ve had a good experience with it.
Honestly, they’re all about the same. You’ll get the same engine, same transmission, and same body across the years. The later trucks might have a bit more power and a nicer interior on the high trim models, but that’s really about it.
@Joss
Thanks for the insight! So it sounds like any year in that range could work.
I have a 2000 with the 6-liter, and you can’t go wrong with it. Lots of power and I’ve been getting around 20 mpg on the highway.

That’s awesome! I love hearing about the mileage; it’s definitely a plus.
@Vail
For sure! It’s always nice to have power without sacrificing too much on fuel.
