I just got two key fobs for my 2011 Chevy Malibu since they didn’t have any. I saw a bunch of different guides online, some from that Google AI and others were videos showing how to program fobs for different Chevy vehicles. They mentioned it could be done on any model, but I’m not sure if that’s true for mine. Just to clarify, these are just the key fobs and don’t have the physical key attached. Can I program them myself?
I want to say either 2010 or 2011 and newer Chevys need to be programmed with a programmer or at a dealer. My '11 Silverado needs a programmer, for example.
Alright. Mine’s technically a 2012 but places keep confusing the year with the gen after. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I get that. The model years can be super confusing sometimes. Just double-check the specifics for your model.
You might be able to find a local locksmith who can do it. Sometimes they have the tools for programming without needing to go to the dealer.
If you have the right equipment, you might be able to program them yourself. But if you’re not sure, it’s better to let a pro handle it, just to be safe.
Honestly, if you can find a how-to video specific to your model, that might help. But remember, if it doesn’t work, it could be a hassle to get it reprogrammed later.
