Considering a 2018 Equinox LT... is it a good deal?

I’m looking to purchase a 2018 Equinox LT 2.0 with sun and infotainment, confidence and convenience packages. It has 94,000 miles on it, and I negotiated the price down to $12,300. The previous owner did have a dog, so some parts of the interior are worn in spots. I’m wondering if this is a deal I should follow through with and how reliable the Equinox is.

I have an '18 Equinox, same configuration. Mine has 86,000 miles, and I have no complaints. It’s a comfortable ride, gets great gas mileage, and is a good family vehicle. The only thing I’ve noticed is that since it’s the 2.0L with a turbocharger, it runs noticeably better with mid-grade or premium gas.

@David
That’s good to hear. I was curious about the gas quality. Have you had any major issues with it?

Not really. Just the usual maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations. It’s been pretty reliable overall.

I think $12,300 sounds reasonable for that mileage. Just make sure you get a full inspection before buying. It’s worth knowing if there are any hidden issues.

That’s a good point. I’ll definitely get it inspected. Any specific issues I should look out for?

@Shawn
Check for any signs of wear in the suspension and make sure the transmission shifts smoothly. Those can be common areas of concern.

I drive a 2018 Equinox as well, and I really like it. The interior is spacious, and it handles well on the road. I think you’ll enjoy it.

I’m glad to hear that. Comfort is really important to me, especially for longer trips.

@Shawn
Definitely. It’s also pretty good on gas, which is a plus for road trips.

Just a heads up, the turbo engine can be a bit more expensive to maintain. Keep that in mind when budgeting for repairs.

Thanks for the warning. I’ll have to factor that into my budget. How often do you think I should expect maintenance?

@Shawn
Generally, regular oil changes every 5,000 to 7,500 miles should keep it running smoothly. Just stay on top of it.

I had a 2018 Equinox for a couple of years. It was pretty good, but I did notice some road noise at highway speeds.

That’s interesting to know. Was it annoying enough to affect your driving experience?

@Shawn
Not really, but it’s something to be aware of. Overall, I liked the vehicle for the price.

Make sure to check the infotainment system too. Some people have reported issues with it freezing or lagging.
