I am looking to buy a bigger vehicle and have always wanted a Chevy Tahoe. I’ve heard the best time to buy a car is around the end of the year when dealerships are trying to clear out the current year models to make room for next year’s. Also, I’ve been told it’s best to buy towards the end of the month.
I’ve got good credit (765) and a steady income, but I don’t want to be overcharged. The dealership is offering me a 2024 Chevy Tahoe LT for around $70,000 through the Costco program. Does that sound like a fair deal? Any advice would be appreciated, and if anyone knows what I should expect to pay for a brand-new LT, I’m all ears.
I’d definitely consider looking into used. 70k is a lot, even if it’s a decent deal. You could also wait until the 2025s come out and save more on a 2024 model. Be sure to check your local dealerships for competitive pricing. And don’t forget to look at financing rates—6% can add up.
Is that the total price including taxes and fees, or is that just the base price? Also, is it 2WD or 4WD? Does it come with any added packages like the luxury package, panoramic roof, or max tow package? The LT price can vary depending on the options.
Check if they have any dealer demos available. I got a 2023 Tahoe High Country with every option this past January and saved a bunch of money. It only had 5,900 km on it when I bought it.
The best time to buy is mid to late December. You’re looking at the end of the month, end of the quarter, and end of the year all at once. Consider buying a 2-3 year-old model with under 25,000 miles if you want to save more.
If you keep an eye on pricing and inventory closely, you might snag a deal. I saved around $10k by watching prices from January until mid-August. They don’t want to keep old stock, so it’s worth tracking what’s available. I ended up getting a Z71.
Don’t overlook used Tahoes. I picked up a 2023 Tahoe Z71, nearly fully loaded (only missing the automated center console), with just 15k miles on it for $58k out the door. Way better than the $77k sticker price for new.
I just got a 2024 RST Tahoe that’s pretty loaded with a panoramic sunroof, moving center console, and more for $67.5k before trade-in. I think you might be able to find a better deal.
