My Kia has been nothing but issues lately, so I’m hoping to purchase a 2025 Chevy Equinox RS tomorrow. I want to know if it’s a good car. I’m looking for something more reliable with longevity, but I also want it to have that modern, sleek tech look that my Kia has, which is why I’ve landed on the Equinox. I’ve heard that its turbo engine is considered slow, while my Kia Seltos engine speeds up very quickly, although it’s not a super clean drive. Will I notice a large difference in performance?
I haven’t driven a Kia, so I can’t compare the acceleration directly. However, I have a 2020 and a 2024 Equinox with the 1.5 engine. Since the 2025 is an updated model, expect some first-year quirks. Personally, I find the acceleration on my Equinox to be acceptable; it won’t win any drag races, but in everyday conditions, you should be fine. On the highway, the acceleration is good for passing as well. It rides comfortably overall. The tech is decent, but I’ve had some issues with wireless CarPlay, which GM says should be fixed with an Apple update. Wired CarPlay works without issue. If you can, I’d recommend getting the AWD model; it has an 8-speed transmission, while the FWD model comes with a CVT, which can be a bit finicky over time.
Definitely check out the features and tech in the Equinox. They’ve made some nice upgrades recently. But yes, you might feel that the turbo engine has a different power delivery compared to your Kia.
I switched from a Kia to an Equinox, and reliability has been a huge improvement for me. The tech is nice, but it took a bit to get used to the new setup. Overall, very happy with my decision.
For sure, the Equinox feels more stable, especially in bad weather. Just keep an eye on the first-year reviews since newer models can have teething problems.
If you loved the tech in your Kia, you’ll probably appreciate what the Equinox offers. Just take a good test drive and compare both in terms of comfort and performance.
