I found a 1971 Suburban listed in Kansas for $25k on autotrader.com. After negotiating, I got it delivered to my driveway 3,000 miles away. I shared it in a local Facebook group, and a member recognized it from a 2000 issue of Street Trucks magazine. They even had a copy and sent it to me. When I posted the magazine article, another member quickly commented that they were the original builder and only lived 150 miles away. Although the magazine had credited a California owner with the restoration, he proved it with a completion photo. The Suburban had crossed the Barrett-Jackson auction block in 2021 for $40k, so I feel I got a great deal at less than half that, even after discovering the original 402 engine was worn out and replacing it with a 454HO from GM Performance.
What an amazing story and find! Congratulations!
That’s an incredible find! It looks like an amazing cruiser!
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
I love this generation, but I can’t find one anywhere.
This is perfect for me!
