My oil pan cracked while I was driving on the highway and I lost most of my engine oil. I was only going about 20 mph for 3 minutes. I can turn the harmonic balancer with a breaker bar, but I’m not sure what else to check. I have the block sitting on my engine stand. It’s a Chevy LQ4 6.0 engine with a cam, idling at 700-800 rpm. Any advice would really help!
The only way to know for sure is to pull out the bearings and inspect them.

What should I look for when I check the bearings?

Look for any scoring or wear on the bearings. If they seem rough or damaged, that could indicate bigger issues.
@Mal
Got it… Is there a chance I can just replace the bearings?

You might be able to replace them, but it depends on how bad the damage is. If the crankshaft is damaged, you may need to do more than just bearings.
Have you checked the oil pump? Running low on oil could damage it too.

I haven’t checked the oil pump yet. Should I do that first?
