My grandmother just gave me her old 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. She didn’t care about phone settings, as she rarely uses a cellphone. I noticed the phone button on the bottom right and became hopeful, but there are no phone or Bluetooth options, and pressing the phone button does nothing, so I’m wondering if anyone knows why it’s there and if I’m missing something.

I had a vehicle with a button like that and discovered that it was essentially a mute button. I suppose their logic is that you can mute the radio and answer the phone. However, it makes no sense because it would be easier to simply turn off the radio. Perhaps it’s merely a placeholder for radios with Bluetooth.

There were no settings on the infotainment system back then, so you had to pair the phone using the vehicle’s voice commands.
If you have the in-vehicle voice commands, trigger them with the steering wheel and say “Bluetooth”.
Then “Pair Phone”
If it has Bluetooth, it should show you how to pair it.

Yes, just for fun, go to a crowded parking lot with your windows down to get better reception and speak as loudly as possible.

Probably one of those occasions when they mass produce and only leave certain items. Chances are you do not have the update, but it costs more to care more.

Is there a usb somewhere (like glove box, or compartment in dash)? I’m thinking those settings may only become available when a phone is connected. 2011 is right around the time when regular cars began to come with Bluetooth, but some only had usb/phone capability

There is an auxiliary jack. I guess they didn’t anticipate those to be deleted from phones.

I had an Equinox that was similar. If I remember, it should be under something, but the options are LIMITED
