Does Chevy Still Make Impalas?

Hey all,

Huge Chevy fan here, with a question about a legendary car - the Impala. Those classic lines and powerful engines were iconic. But I haven’t seen any new Impalas around lately. Did Chevy stop making Impalas altogether? Or maybe they brought them back in a new form? Just curious if the Impala is still part of the Chevy lineup!

Hi Ethan… Chevrolet indeed stopped making the Impala recently. The last model year for the Chevy Impala was 2020, marking the end of an era for this iconic car. Despite its long history and the love it garnered for its classic lines and powerful engines, changing market demands and the shift towards SUVs and crossovers led to its discontinuation. While there’s no new form of the Impala in the current Chevy lineup, fans of the brand and model can still find used and certified pre-owned Impalas from recent years, which offer modern features and the same legacy of performance and style. For now, the Impala remains a cherished part of Chevrolet’s history rather than its present.

My uncle was in the WA State Patrol for nearly 30 years and he said the best cruiser ever was the boxy Caprice 9C1, mainly due to its hole shot (acceleration).

Sure as @James has said, Chevrolet unfortunately discontinued the iconic Impala two years ago. The last Chevy Impala sedan rolled off the assembly line at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant in Michigan on February 27, 2020, marking the end of a lifespan that lasted more than 60 years.
It is also important to note that the production ceased in 2019 but the Impala continued to sell in limbo until February 2020.

Chevrolet stopped making the Impala, with the final model rolling off the production line in 2020.

Chevy actually stopped making the Impala in 2020. It was a tough decision, but they wanted to focus on other car models.

I was always told to judge a car’s reliability by how frequently you see old versions of it around. You see old civics, corollas, etc. that show that their engines, which obviously aren’t built for high, muscle-car performance, last decades nonetheless. That being said, I always had an underlying respect for impalas because I could see a whole range of them, even from as early as the 50’s, that are still in the good shape they were built in. Impala’s aren’t my first pick, but they’re far from my last, and it’s kinda sad to see a staple car for Chevy to be discontinued…
