Duramax 3L I6 Diesel vs 2.7

Wanting a full-size truck but drive anywhere from 2k-4k miles a month for work, mostly highway miles. Thoughts on going with the Diesel over the 2.7 for MPG purpose? (plus just would like a diesel haha)

The 2.7L seems like a solid engine, but the diesel will get better mileage, for diesel reasons.

The diesel is going to get better MPG in every way over the 2.7. My diesel regularly gets 29+. My 450-mile best is 32.

The one in question. 3.0L

I know maintenance on them is typically more expensive, any issues minus the routine maintenance?

None. 21k miles in 9 months. Oil changes are $30 more depending on the dealership, jug of DEF every 4-6k miles but that’s it so far.
