Equinox 2019. One very hot day, my kid accidentally left a can of body spray in the car and it exploded. It managed to get behind the plastic covering the gauges and speedometer, for some reason. It’s really hazy and challenging to read. In order to clean the rear side, how can I take off the plastic?

That sounds frustrating! To remove the plastic cover over the gauges and speedometer on your 2019 Chevy Equinox, follow these steps:
-
Gather Tools: You’ll need a trim removal tool and a screwdriver.
-
Remove the Bezel: Start by carefully prying off the bezel surrounding the instrument cluster. This usually snaps out with gentle pressure.
-
Unscrew the Cluster: Once the bezel is removed, you’ll see screws holding the instrument cluster in place. Remove these screws.
-
Disconnect the Cluster: Carefully pull out the instrument cluster and disconnect any electrical connectors attached to it.
-
Remove the Plastic Cover: The clear plastic cover is typically clipped onto the cluster. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry up the tabs around the cover to release it.
Once you have the cover off, you can clean it thoroughly and then reassemble everything by reversing the steps.
To clean the rear side of the plastic covering the gauges and speedometer on your 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, you will need to remove the instrument cluster. You can do so by following these simple steps:
- Disconnect the battery: Safety first! Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid any electrical issues.
- Remove the dashboard trim: Carefully pry off the dashboard trim around the instrument cluster. Use a trim removal tool to avoid damaging the trim.
- Unscrew the instrument cluster: There should be screws holding the instrument cluster in place. Remove these screws using the appropriate screwdriver.
- Disconnect the wiring harness: Gently pull the instrument cluster forward and disconnect the wiring harness from the back.
- Remove the plastic cover: Once the instrument cluster is out, you should be able to access the plastic cover. It might be held in place by clips or additional screws. Carefully remove these to take off the plastic cover.
- Clean the plastic cover: Now you can clean the rear side of the plastic cover. Use a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution to avoid scratching the plastic.
- Reassemble: After cleaning, reassemble everything in the reverse order.
