Hey everyone! I’ve got a ‘98 S10 Blazer and I’m having trouble with the locks freezing up when it gets cold—like right now, it’s about 30°F and all 4 door locks are frozen. This happens even when there’s no rain or snow. I can’t park in a garage either. Is there anything I can do to help prevent this from happening? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
That sounds frustrating! You might want to try using some lock de-icer spray. It can help melt the ice quickly.
Another option is to apply some silicone spray or graphite lubricant to the locks. It can help keep moisture out and prevent freezing.
If you can, try covering the locks with something like a piece of plastic or a cloth when it’s really cold. It might help keep the moisture away.
I’ve had similar issues with my old truck. Sometimes just warming the key a bit before using it can help get it to turn in the lock.
Good luck! Hopefully, you can find a way to keep those locks working. Winter can be rough on older vehicles.
