I have a 1990 GMC 5.7 Chevy with EFI. What year gear drives will work on it from older years to newer? I’m trying to figure out my options here. Any help would be awesome!
You might want to stick with gear drives from the late '80s to early '90s to avoid issues. Newer ones could cause problems.

What kind of problems are we talking about?

Well, newer gear drives can mess with the knock sensor, which isn’t great for your setup.
I had a similar setup and went with a 1990 gear drive. It worked perfectly without any issues!

Nice! Did you have to make any modifications to fit it?

Nope, it was a direct fit. Just double-check your EFI setup to ensure everything matches.
I’d recommend checking out forums or groups specific to GMC enthusiasts. They usually have solid advice!

Good call! I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks for the tip!
What about using a gear drive from a different engine? Is that possible?

You could, but it’s risky. Compatibility issues could arise, so stick to the same engine line if you can.
