I’ve got a 2014 Chevy Sonic with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine. I’ve replaced the housing thermostat, radiator, and water pump, but the car still won’t turn on. It cranks like it wants to start, but it just doesn’t. The only code I’m getting is P0300, so the engine light is still on. Any ideas on what else I should check?
P0300 is a general misfire condition. You should check the spark plugs and the coil pack. You can test the coil pack with a multimeter—there are YouTube videos on how to do that. Also, make sure your battery is charged and not dead from cranking too much. Has the timing belt been changed? The 1.8L has a timing belt that needs to be changed at 100k miles. If it’s worn or snapped, that could definitely cause a no-start situation.
