So I have been wanting to acquire a hitch for my 2020 Trax Premier to tow a tiny 4x6 enclosed trailer. I know the vehicle’s tow weight is roughly 1,260 pounds or such. I know Chevy advises not to tow anything, but I have seen a lot of folks pulling things. The main things I observed were with the 2024 Trax and not towing anything because it has three cylinders. But the 2020 has four cylinders. The trailer would only be hitched once a week, with a 2-4 hour drive duration. What is your thought?

People buy these CUVs and think they’re buying a truck because it’s got AWD and sits a little higher up off the road… in reality what you have there is an econobox.

It’s a suspension thing too. It’s probably doable in a pinch, but far from safe.

Towing with an unsuitable vehicle is a bad idea. The engine is probably the least of my concerns; the transmission will not enjoy hauling, and the suspension and brakes were not meant for it either.
