How long can an optispark last with a leaking water pump?

I left my car sitting for 2 months, and when I went to start it, I noticed a 2-inch circle of fluid underneath the water pump. My car is a 1994 model with 126,000 miles. How long can the optispark last under these conditions before it goes out?

It’s hard to say exactly how long it will last. The optispark is sensitive to moisture, and a leak can lead to issues fairly quickly.

Generally, you should address the leak as soon as possible. Prolonged exposure to water can damage the optispark.

If the water pump is leaking, it’s best to fix it before it causes further damage. The optispark can fail if it gets wet.

I’ve seen optisparks fail within weeks of exposure to water. It’s a good idea to get it checked out quickly.

Make sure to monitor it closely. If you notice any performance issues, it might be time to replace the optispark.
