I want to lock my key fob in my 2022 Equinox

Is there a way? I have someone who will be moving my car while I’m out of town. They want to be able to leave the fob in my car and lock the door for when I get back. I’ll have my other fob with me. I couldn’t find a post about it. TIA

I would just get them to put your key in the mailbox or something nearby. I haven’t been able to do this with any of several cars with remotes, and if you try to hide it in a wheel well you can just open the door so that’s not a solution. Sorry this isn’t a real answer.

Maybe try taking the battery out and putting it in the trunk?

Put the fob in a Faraday bag. The car will not be able to detect it and you’ll be able to lock it in the car.

This post. Wrapped in foil.

Use the Chevy app to remote lock the car from wherever. Costs money though.

You can turn the anti lockout protection, and the fob in car alert off in the vehicle settings on the infotainment unit.

Like MusicMan said but really just need aluminum foil. Can’t stress this enough that the fob must be completely wrapped in the foil, any gaps and the RF signal gets out and the car can be opened/started/driven etc.

Rented a car off Turo and they used one of those lock boxes on the window but the owner didn’t wrap the fob in aluminum foil and the car was stolen right from the airport parking lot before we even landed.

2024 Silverado, double tap lock on the door, throw the keys in and done. Then, like you asked, use the other fob or the app as others suggested. My dealer had no clue how to do it either.

YouTube my friends.

Honestly, I’d see if you could just remove the battery from the key fob and lock the door before you close it.
