Is $2230 a fair price for a catalytic converter replacement?

Hey folks, I just got quoted $2230 plus labor for a catalytic converter replacement service. Does anyone know if this is reasonable for the parts? I’m trying to figure out if I’m being ripped off or if this is standard pricing. Cheers.

That sounds like a lot to me. Just to clarify, is that in CAD?

Yeah, that’s in CAD. I thought it seemed high too, but I wanted to check.

I recently had mine replaced and it was around $1500, but that was with a discount. Prices can vary a lot depending on the shop.

Glad to hear that. I was worried I was paying way too much.

Make sure to ask what brand of parts they’re using. Some can be more expensive than others.

Good point. I should definitely ask about the parts quality.

I think it also depends on your vehicle model. Some cars have more complex systems that drive up the cost.

That makes sense. Mine is a bit older, so I guess parts might be pricier.

If it helps, I’ve heard that labor can add a lot to the final bill. So definitely look into that too.

I will. Thanks for the advice, everyone.
