Just bought a 2019 Equinox with 128,000 miles... any preventative maintenance tips?

As the title suggests, I just got myself a 2019 Equinox that’s got 128,000 miles on it. I want to make sure I keep it running smoothly, so what are some good preventative maintenance steps I can take? Any advice from you all would be awesome!

Congrats on the new ride! Definitely check the oil regularly and change it if it’s looking dark. It helps keep the engine healthy.

How often should I be changing the oil? Like every 5,000 miles?

@Alexis
Yeah, every 5,000 miles is a good rule of thumb, but check your manual too just in case!

Make sure to keep an eye on the brakes. If you hear any weird sounds, it might be time to check the pads.

Good call! I’ll be listening for that. What kind of sounds should I be worried about?

@Ollie
Squeaking or grinding sounds are red flags. Just check them out if you hear anything unusual.

Flushing the coolant is a must too, especially with those miles. It can prevent overheating down the line.

Usually every 50,000-100,000 miles, but again, check your manual for specifics!

Don’t forget to check the air filter! A clean filter helps with fuel efficiency.

Great tip! How can I tell if it needs changing?

If it looks dirty or you can’t see light through it, it’s time for a change.

Also, check your tire pressure regularly! Properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage.

Thanks for the reminder! Is there a tool I should use for that?

A simple tire pressure gauge works great. You can find them at any auto parts store.
