Mic not working in my Chevy Malibu... anyone else have this issue?

Hello all— I have a 2020 Chevy Malibu, and the microphone isn’t working. When I make a phone call, I can hear the other party, but they can’t hear me. Looking to see if anyone else has had this issue and solved it. I’d rather try to handle it myself than go to the dealership. This problem has been going on for a few months, and I’m finally at a point where I wanna address it and fix it.

Try disconnecting your phone by removing it from your car’s Bluetooth. Erase the Bluetooth connection on your phone. Turn off the car and power down your phone, then turn them back on.

That’s a good idea! Sometimes a simple reset can fix these issues.

I had the same problem! After trying everything, I took it to the dealership. It turned out to be the telecommunications module. It’s backordered right now, but that was the fix.

Thanks for the info! Do you know the part number?

Yeah, it’s part number 4596570. If you’re having communication problems, the system might store a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) too. For example, code U1000 means there’s a communication issue over the CAN network.

Good luck! I hope it’s an easy fix for you. Keep us posted on what happens.

I’ve read that sometimes the mic can get blocked or damaged. Have you checked if it’s clean?
