Hey everyone, I bought a 1994 Chevy G20 Van last December, and I’m starting to realize it has a lot of issues. I’m pretty sure I need new rotors in my front brakes, and a new driveshaft, and I think I have a blown head gasket. To top it off, I was in a head-on collision on Nov 3rd (see pic). I’m 19 and kind of clueless about all this, so I’m torn between taking it to a mechanic who’ll charge me a ton or trying to fix it myself bit by bit. If anyone’s near Middle Tennessee and wants to help out, send me a PM. I love this van but don’t know what to do.
The crash is just a matter of finding some good panels at a junkyard. Brakes are pretty easy to do yourself if you have the tools.
Yeah, driveshaft issues usually come from dents or being out of balance. Replacing U-joints is cheap and simple.

Good to know! I’ll look into that. Thanks!

The head gasket is gonna be a pain, especially with the engine crammed in there. It’s a tough job for a DIYer.
Yikes, sounds like I might need some help with that one.
If you’re unsure about the work that needs to be done, getting an inspection isn’t a bad idea. Just be upfront about your concerns.

I might do that. Thanks for the advice!
Consulting friends who know about cars is a great idea. They might help you save some cash!
