Need help with steering components for my 99 Silverado

Hey everyone, I have a 1999 Silverado 1500 4WD and I’ve noticed a lot of play in the steering. I think I’ve narrowed it down to the steering box and possibly the steering pump being on the way out. I’m looking for recommendations on what brand I should consider for these parts and what brands I should definitely avoid. Here’s the list of parts I’m looking at: For the hydraulic hose line from the box to the pump, I have part number 15295837. I also need an O-ring for the pump, part number 26001594, and an O-ring for the box as well as a cooler pump with the same part number. I need two clamps, part number 11571140. For the pump, I’m looking at part number 15077397 and for the steering box, part number 88965789. The cooler isn’t necessary, but the part number for that is 15295843. I also need a Pitman arm, part number 19168944, which should include the O-ring needed. If the hydraulic hose has the O-ring, I shouldn’t need to buy that separately. I’d really appreciate any help you guys can offer.

It sounds like you’ve done your homework. I had a similar issue and I went with ACDelco parts for my steering components. They’ve been pretty reliable for me.

I’d suggest avoiding anything from Chinese brands, especially for steering components. I made that mistake once and regretted it.

I’ve had good luck with Duralast parts from AutoZone. They have a decent warranty, which gives me peace of mind.

Make sure to check if the O-rings are included in the parts you’re buying. That could save you a trip to the store later.

I think you’re on the right track. Just make sure to take your time and don’t rush the installation. It’ll save you headaches later.
