Needing advice on my 2016 Chevy Equinox... codes P2068, P228D, P0016, P0089, P2535

I’m having some trouble with my 2016 Chevy Equinox 2.4L gas. It’s throwing a bunch of codes: P2068, P228D, P0016, P0089, and P2535. I’ve already changed the high and low pressure fuel sensors, the fuel pump, the ignition switch, and even the battery. But the engine won’t crank. When I try to start the car, it seems like the battery dies. The lights on the dash and cabin turn off, and the only light that stays on is the engine light. After I release and turn the key back to the on position, the lights come back on and everything else works fine, but the engine still doesn’t run. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you’ve done a lot already. Have you checked the connections on the battery and the fuel pump? Sometimes loose connections can cause similar issues.

That’s a lot of codes to deal with. The P0016 code usually indicates an issue with the camshaft or crankshaft position sensors. Have you looked into those?

I haven’t checked those yet. Do you think that could cause the cranking issue? I thought it was more related to fuel delivery.

Could be a bad ground somewhere too. Have you checked the ground connections? They can cause all sorts of weird electrical issues.

No, I haven’t checked the grounds. I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks for the suggestion.

If the battery seems to die when you try to start it, it might be worth testing the battery and alternator. Sometimes a weak battery can cause starting problems.

Yeah, I replaced the battery recently but I could get it tested just to be sure. I’ll add that to my list.

Sounds frustrating. Have you considered taking it to a mechanic for a diagnostic? They can often pinpoint the problem quicker.

I’m trying to avoid that if I can, but I might have to if I can’t figure it out soon.
