New battery or brakes routers?

Hello Folks, My 2011 Tahoe Flex has been acting up. When you switch it on, everything works perfectly. However, when you press R or D, it initially appears to switch off. It doesn’t turn off, but you can feel it; when I raise or lower my window, it does the same thing. When I come to a stop or approach a stoplight, it shakes as I hit my brakes. It does not constantly act up; there are days when it does not. I’ve taken it to two mechanics, and they say everything is good with the SUV. I keep urging my partner they should run it for a long, not just in their business. We are currently seeking another mechanic to take it too. I took it to AutoZone to see if it would give me any codes, and it didn’t. They tested the battery, and it says it’s fine.

We cannot find our way here.

My partner thinks it’s the brake routers. Maybe we need a new battery because the one we have is five years old.

Has anyone else in Tahoe been doing it or has done it?

Replace the battery. In my experience, any battery older than five years is on borrowed time. Older batteries will test good but are bad. For the brakes, I would update the pads and rotors, and you will be good as gold.

I have had similar issues with my SUV before. The shaking when you brake could be because of warped brake rotors, but it might also have to do with other brake parts. Since your battery is five years old, it might be smart to replace it just to rule out any electrical problems. Hopefully, the next mechanic can figure it out. :crossed_fingers:

Thank you for the suggestion. I have an appointment with my mechanic tomorrow to resolve the problem.

It’s good that you are seeking another opinion from a different mechanic.

It sounds like the issue could be electrical, given the age of your battery and the fact that it’s five years old. Sometimes a battery can test fine but still not perform well under certain conditions. As for the brake rotors, if they’re warped, they could cause shaking when you brake. I agree that getting a second opinion

That is what I told my partner yesterday. We could use a second opinion. Thanks a lot.
