New to Chevrolet and need help please

For context, I have dreamed of wanting a Chevy HHR forever and I recently purchased one second hand. It’s a 2008 Chevy HHR and I haven’t gotten a chance to drive it yet because it needs plates. Where I currently live, it’s snowing, so I went to run it and was fiddling with the settings for the seat and the windows, trying to get everything set up the way I need it. As I was messing with the radio, I noticed that none of the surround speakers work, only the tweeter speakers. I need help to figure out how to fix this, either on my own or can anyone direct me to help online or any specific type of shop that I should go to have that looked at. I’m in desperate need of help, please and thank you in advance…

Make sure there are speakers physically there. It’s not uncommon for people to yank aftermarket speakers before they get rid of the car.

All speakers are accounted for, but I never would have thought of that. Thank you!

First, have you read the owner’s manual for using the stereo? If you did, it is not uncommon that the stereo head unit is bad. Second, for the love of God, punctuation dude, punctuation.

Ok, is there anything I can do about it? Or do you think it’s just better to go and get it replaced? Also, for the no punctuation before, I was using voice to text while adjusting the controls in the car and didn’t want to sit and type out all that in the middle of a snowstorm. So I apologize for that.

Copy. I get it on the punctuation, it just makes it much harder to follow. As far as the speakers and head unit issue, how mechanically or electronically adept are you? And what kind of budget do you have? Is it the basic sound system or one of the Bose units? The cheapest option would be to try some new speakers. In my Blazer, the rear door speakers were not doing anything; it turned out the coils in both speakers were dead. Replaced speakers and it was back in business. If you enjoy your music, even if it wasn’t the final fix, it would be good to get quality speakers. Next step would be the stereo head unit. You can get a stock replacement from a well-reviewed seller on eBay or go through someone like LKQ. Or go aftermarket with something like a Pioneer or Sony. I highly recommend Crutchfield; I have gone through them multiple times and they have really good customer service. With an aftermarket deck, you will also need an integration unit for your door/key chimes and stuff like that. Hope that helps.

I would start with the fuse before anything else.

Ok, thank you! I will most definitely check that out first.
