Recently, I received a diagnostic for a check engine light on my 2010 Chevy Cobalt, indicating a small EVAP leak detected. I replaced the gas cap today and am now waiting for the light to go off. However, I’m left wondering what else could be causing the issue. If anyone has any insights or advice, I’d greatly appreciate it. Apologies for the vague post, and thank you in advance for any assistance.
New gas cap might not fix your Chevy Cobalt’s EVAP leak. Leaks could be elsewhere in the system, the light might take time to reset, and the leak could be a symptom of a bigger problem. Consider further diagnosis if the light stays on.
P0422 is not an error relating to a faulty EVAP, a faulty gas cap, or a bad fuel filler neck.
It could indicate various problems, but the common one is a faulty catalytic converter
