Reliability of the Chevy Spark '22 and later as commuter car

How reliable is a Spark 22 or later in terms of commuting? I’ll put about 2,000 miles on it each month and want to make sure it’s trustworthy for long-distance trips.

I took my 21 on a 2800-mile road trip and it did perfectly.

@AlexJohnson I haven’t owned my low-mileage '22 long enough to give you solid feedback, but I’m probably putting 1500 miles each month on mine so far. The one thing I’m keeping an eye on is the transmission (automatic), which occasionally feels sluggish, even though it’s just 11000 miles old. Until almost 100,000 miles, my old Honda did not exhibit any signs of smoothness or need for extra effort.

I drive a 2019 automobile. I work full-time as a delivery driver and drove 46,675 kilometers, or nearly 29,000 miles, last year. This works out to approximately 2400 miles every month. I have 186,000 on it all. It has held up brilliantly. So yet, just regular maintenance has been performed. I’m familiar with city driving, but I also commuted 90 kilometers every day to a manufacturing job for three years prior. What a fantastic automobile.

I have 33,000 kilometers on my manual 22 and have had no problems thus far. I normally use it for travels of 300 kilometers or more, with a small to moderate bit of city driving. I personally would avoid a CVT transmission, but I have not used the spark CVT.

I have a '21 and average approximately 1600 miles per month with no difficulties. I simply keep up with the suggested maintenance on it. I bought it brand new and have approximately 35,000 miles on it.

I have put 160k on my manual 2020 spark since new. It’s a fantastic commuter. I regularly do about 3k miles a month in it. I’ve only ever done regular maintenance on it.

I have a 2021 Auto with 53,000 miles on it. So far, it’s been fantastic. Around the 40k point, the transmission felt slow, but after a fluid change, it perked right up again. It’s been a terrific automobile, and I’ve averaged slightly over 36 mpg over its career.

I have a 21 auto with about 50,000 miles…

So, I would say fine.

Just keep the services running as they should.
