Second Generation Camaro valve cover breathers

Hey Folks, I recently installed two push-in breathers on the valve covers of my 305. After doing this, I realized that air must be able to both enter and exit, not just enter. I used Edelbrock 4443 push breathers for both valve covers, but shortly after, my carb began to smoke and I experienced a significant oil leak from the valve covers. I’m wondering if this setup could harm the engine. When I purchased the car, it had only one breather and an open hole in one of the valve covers. I would appreciate any insight on this issue.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I’ve seen similar issues before. Your setup could be disrupting the crankcase pressure balance, causing oil to leak out. I’d try removing one breather and see if the issue persists. Make sure the remaining breather is compatible with your engine’s needs.

It sounds like you might be dealing with excessive crankcase pressure. Two breathers might be too much for your setup. Try switching back to the original configuration or using a breather and a PCV valve. This could help balance the pressure and stop the smoking and leaking.
