I’ve bought two Chevy vehicles from different dealers over the last few years. One came with a ‘forever limited’ warranty, and the other we paid for an extended warranty. Both warranties specify that we must use a certified licensed facility for routine maintenance like oil changes. I asked if I could do my own oil changes, and they said that would void the warranty. The Magnuson Moss Act of 1975 states we should be able to do our own maintenance regardless of whether it’s a manufacturer limited or service warranty. Any suggestions?
Magnuson Moss applies to warranties provided by the manufacturer. The warranties you’re asking about aren’t from the manufacturer.
It’s still considered a warranty by the FTC.

Tried it, got no responses.
Is this a service agreement between you and the dealer? Can you get warranty repairs at any Chevy dealer?

No, it’s a limited warranty, not a service contract. I can have it done anywhere but have to contact the selling dealer first.
That sounds frustrating! Maybe consider talking to a lawyer who specializes in consumer rights. They could help clarify things.
