I might get a 2006 1500 crew cab that they’re willing to let go for $7,000. It has 135K miles, a double din radio, and it’s been dropped (but I might lift it back up). My main concern is the transmission and engine since those miles are kinda up there. Also, is there a way to convert the rear drum brakes to discs? I really hate drum brakes.
If the engine and transmission have been well-maintained, it could be a decent deal. Definitely get a mechanic to check it out first!
You can convert the rear drum brakes to discs, but it can be pretty involved. There are kits available, but make sure you do your research before diving in.
135K isn’t too bad for a truck if it’s been taken care of. Just check for any leaks or strange noises when you test drive it.
I had a 2006 1500, and it was solid. Just keep an eye on the transmission fluid and do regular maintenance.
What trims are you looking at? Sometimes the higher trims have better features and might be worth it.
