Hey guys, I’m building an LQ9 engine with an SS2 cam and need some advice. What size stall converter should I be looking at for this setup? Also, what size and brand of injectors would be good for this build? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
For that SS2 cam on an LQ9, I’d recommend going with a 3600-4000 stall converter, especially if you’re looking for more aggressive launches. It’ll depend on your rear-end gear ratio and your goals for the car. As for injectors, you should probably go with 42lb injectors or higher depending on how much power you’re aiming for. Brands like Siemens Deka or FIC (Fuel Injector Clinic) are pretty reliable.
@Vail
Thanks for the advice! I’ve got 3.73 gears in the back and was thinking around 3600 stall, but wasn’t sure if that’s too much. Good to know about the injectors – I’ll check out Siemens Deka and FIC.
@Harlem
3600 stall with 3.73s should be a solid choice for that setup. You’ll definitely feel it on takeoff, and the higher stall will help you stay in the powerband for that SS2 cam. Glad I could help!
I’d say 4000 stall if you’re going all out with the SS2 cam, especially if this is more of a street/strip car. As for injectors, you could get away with 42lb, but if you’re planning on adding more mods later like a bigger cam or forced induction, I’d go with at least 60lb injectors to give yourself more room to grow.
@Jace
I haven’t thought too much about future mods yet, but that’s a good point. I might go for the 60lb injectors just to be safe down the line. I’m mostly doing street driving, but a little extra performance doesn’t hurt!
@Harlem
Exactly! Better to oversize a bit now than have to swap injectors again later if you add more power. Sounds like it’s gonna be a fun build!
I’ve got an SS2 cam in my setup with a 3600 stall, and it’s been great for street driving with the occasional track run. For injectors, I went with 50lb FIC injectors, and they’ve worked perfectly so far. No complaints.
@Adair
Awesome to hear you’ve got the same cam. I’m leaning towards a 3600 stall now. I’ll check out the 50lb FIC injectors – seems like a solid middle ground.

Yeah, 50lb seems to give you enough room to breathe without going overboard. And 3600 stall should keep it pretty responsive without being too crazy for daily driving. You’re gonna love it.
If you’re thinking about eventually going forced induction, I’d skip the 42lb injectors and go straight for 60lb or even 80lb, depending on your goals. As for the stall, 3600-4000 sounds like the sweet spot for your build.
@Ray
I haven’t considered forced induction yet, but I might lean towards bigger injectors just in case. Thanks for the advice!

No problem! You’ll be glad you have the extra fuel supply if you ever go that route. Best of luck with the build!
As others have said, 3600-4000 stall is where you wanna be. I’d say go with a Circle D converter – they make great units for LS setups. For injectors, Siemens Deka 60lb would be a solid choice, especially if you ever want to go further with the build.
@ADELINE
Thanks! I’ve heard good things about Circle D, I’ll definitely check them out. Looks like I might go with the 60lb injectors too just to give myself some headroom.

You won’t regret it. Circle D converters are solid, and the 60lb injectors will keep you covered even if you add more power down the road.
