I’m considering trading in my 2022 Tacoma for a 2020-22 min Duramax 1500 Silverado. I need more space with two kids, and I think the minimax is more reliable and durable than the 5.3 or 6.2 engines because of those pesky emission controls that seem to lead to lifter failures. I hope to trade it in for the same value as the minimax to avoid another car note entirely. So, what do you all think? Dumb idea or semi-good?
Honestly, I think it sounds like a solid plan. The Duramax has a great reputation for reliability, especially for families.
I’d be careful about the trade value. Make sure you’re getting a fair deal. Sometimes dealers can lowball you.
I had a similar switch a while back, and it was one of the best decisions I made. The extra power and comfort are worth it.
I think it’s a great move for your situation. Just make sure to test drive the Silverado to see how it feels for you and the kids.
Just make sure you really want to make the switch. Sometimes we get caught up in the idea of a new car, but it’s a big commitment.
