What are your thoughts on the new 2025 Chevy Equinox? What do you wish they added?
I enjoy the adjustments and upgrades. However, it seems unbelievable that they produced a heavier and larger vehicle while leaving the anemic 1.5ltr engine under the hood. Acceleration is slower, and fuel efficiency is worse than previously. Most definitely a car designed by accountants. I recall reading an article in which one of the GM executives remarked that their surveys all placed more power as 5 or 6 on customers’ priority replies, so they saw no reason to put a larger engine in it. They have 50 fewer horsepower than almost everyone else. Even the Buick comparable concept has 50 more, and it isn’t class leading.
If you think that’s crazy, the new traverse has a 4cyl and looks like it could tow a boat
I have always been a fan of Equinox. I had 2011 with the V6 and traded it in in 2018 for the 2018 Equinox with the 2.0 turbo. I will not buy another if they do not upgrade the engine. I am looking at the Colorados for when I am ready to trade in again, which will be soon.
They should have put the 2.0 back in it.
They had plans as well, but the government and CARB rules prevented them from carrying them out.
This made me think of the 2024 model, which isn’t awful at all–I test-drove one earlier and was offered about $7k off the MSRP.
Are there any recognized difficulties with this generation?
Really $7k off? What model
I purchased the 2025 RS FWD and absolutely adore it. I had previously owned a 2015 LT Equinox, and while researching this vehicle, I discovered that many people were dissatisfied with the engine and CVT, but I was pleasantly surprised when I drove it, and it doesn’t feel sluggish at all. I live in the Midwest, so I won’t be driving it up steep mountain roads, and it’s the ideal size for my needs.
I wish the 1.5T produced more power; ~200 horsepower would be ideal. I still enjoy it, though.
