Tires for the 2020 LT Trail Boss

After 4.5 years and 48k miles on tires I can’t stand, it’s finally time to get rid of them. I love the aggressive look, but that’s about it. The performance has been disappointing; they did okay on desert and southeastern terrain but are terrible on the road.

What tires do you recommend? I need something that’s about 85% for road use and 15% for off-road, including farmland in North Carolina (which has red clay, so I definitely need an all-terrain tire). I also do some towing, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance

BFG KO2s are a great choice. I really didn’t like the Duratracs I had.

I chose the AT Coopers; they come with a 60k mile warranty and are very quiet on the road. It’s surprising just how bad the stock Goodyears are.

I have the stock Goodyears that came with my LT Z71. They’re not very flashy, but they’re lightweight, affordable, and provide a smooth ride. Anyone with Duratracs needs to balance and rotate them every 5k miles (I had them on a Wrangler).

Coopers are good, but they become really hard after a couple of years. The BFG All-Terrains are nice. In Texas, I think the Ridge Grapplers are outdated and wear out quickly, although many people still like them. A couple of coworkers who had Recon Grapplers said they aren’t great.

I’ll be putting larger Duratracs on my truck next.

I work in a refinery, and some nights, all we discuss is truck tires.

I recently installed Falken Wildpeak AT4Ws on my vehicle, and I really love them.

Those Goodyears are terrible. My favorite mud terrain tire on the market is the Toyo Open Country M/T. It’s surprisingly quiet for a mud tire and offers a great ride. They also have the Open Country available in an all-terrain option if you’re looking for something less aggressive.
